According to police, the deceased was in a bar with others when he heard a person outside chanting Bobi Wine. As he walked out to see what was happening, he was shot in the head and the chest.
Hassan Mwebembezi, a relative to the couple, says Kenkoonzi died due to excessive bleeding despite efforts by doctors to save her life. The late Kenkoonzi was rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital on Tuesday night together with her husband, Francis Aryarugamu after being shot by unidentified thugs.
According to an eye witness, unidentified gunmen shot the couple at around 8:40pm while walking to their home in Mwanjari trading center shortly after closing their Soda Depot in Kabale Central Market.
