Last month, herdsmen killed the Crested Crane in Moruita Sub County in Nakapiripirit district. The Crane was believed to be from Matheniko- Bokora Corridor that stretches from Moroto, Napak, Nakapiripirit, Nabilatuk, Amudat and parts of Teso.
Nakapiripirit District Police Commander, Joseph Bongo, says calm has returned and normal business has resumed. He says they have also picked up two suspects, whose identities have been withheld to aid the police investigations.
Sande Lokii Samaria, 61, a retired Police Sergeant broke down before the Commission while speaking about her land that was reportedly given to Nakapiripirit Primary School without her knowledge. Sande explained that the land grabbers left her family without any land or bother to explain their actions.
Amudat district chairperson Francis Kiyonga observes that whereas cattle thefts had significantly reduced by 80 percent, the district still loses between 5-15 head of cattle every week. He adds that with all the cattle stolen, recovery routes lead to Nakapiripirit district.
Godfrey Aluma, the-Nakapiripirit Resident District Commissioner suspects that the firearm allegations may be true. He explains that the gun went missing on 16th October and Mansoor was gunned down the next day at 7.30pm.
A Uganda Peopleâ€™s Defence Forcesâ€”UPDF soldier committed suicide on Saturday after killing a mistaken identity in Nakapiripirit district. Private Sam Odongakara Olok, whose army service number is RA 223061, shot himself after he allegedly killed James Wandudu, a shop attendant at Komuriet trading centre.
