Kawala said that the infant was stolen from her mother Aisha Namutebi. She said that when the CCTV cameras in the hospital were reviewed, a search for Nakalanzi started and she was arrested from a home in Kyengeza village in Malangala Sub County.
The suspects currently detained at Wamala Region Police headquarters in Mityana were arrested in a joint operation involving the Uganda Police Force-UPDF and power distributors, Umeme in Mityana and Gomba Districts.
Racheal Kawala, the Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, says that the operation targeted scrap and electric shop dealers. Kawala explains that security recovered exhibits including cables and earth wires among other items belonging to both UMEME and the Rural Electrification Agency – REA.
It is alleged that the leaflets were dropped in different places with in Mityana Municipality in Mityana District which include; Prisons, Mityana Junior School, Mityana Taxi Park and Kiyudaaya Village in Busimbi Division among other residential places.
The Police in Mityana is investigating 2 separate murder incidents where a man was attacked, hacked and his genitals were taken while a 57 year old trader was found dead and her body dumped in garden.
According to the Police's preliminary findings, the bus registration number UBG 423 G, belonging to Link Bus Company left Bundibugyo town with 65 passengers on board. But at around 2 a.m., they met a roadblock manned by about 10 people who ordered them to move out of the bus and lie down on the road.

At least 626 cases of domestic violence were registered from five districts of Mityana, Mubende, Kassanda, Kyankwanzi and Kiboga in four months which officials say they negatively affect children.
Patrick Nuwagaba, the Officer in Charge of Kakindu Police Station in Mityana District was found dead near his car that had been parked about 500 meters away from his home at Mayirye Village in Kakindu Sub County.
“The two police officers were responding to an alleged complaint by two victims who claimed they had been robbed of proceeds from their tomato business. One of them identified himself as Kananya Sulaiman of Nansana in Wakiso District who was putting on dirty clothes alleged that the public had arrested one whom they were threatening to lynch and he asked the police to immediately intervene,” Kawala said.
The appeal came after residents intercepted a group of suspected thieves who were carrying a calf and several goats allegedly stolen from Kyetume and Nalyankanja villages in Bulera sub-county.
Kyakuwa told URN that they decided to conduct patrols because of the rampant theft of their cows, goats and pigs, which they said has deprived them of any revenue. He explained that upon interception of the commuter taxi, the suspects thieved jumped out and fled for dear lives.
Rev. Fr Josephat Kasambula, 68, was allegedly stabbed to death on Wednesday evening, by a man he had gone to evict from his land at Kikunyu Village, in Kyegonza Sub County, Gomba District.
The district registered 187 criminal juvenile offences in the financial year 2020-2021 compared to 168 cases recorded in the previous year. These include cases of aggravated robbery, murder, and sexual offences like incest and defilement, among others, committed by minors aged 15 and 16.
