At midnight tonight Uganda shall become Independent. We shall have a Uganda flag, a National Anthem and Coat of Arms. These will be symbols, but independence does not begin and end with the selection and raising of a flag, the singing of a National Anthem and the display of a Coat of Arms. Our independence shall mean great responsibilities for all of us without exception.
According to the Emoluments and Benefits of the President, Vice President and Prime Minister act 2010, specified benefits shall be enjoyed by the surviving spouse or spouses and dependent children of a Vice President who dies in retirement until the death of the spouse or spouses or in the case of the dependent children until they attain the age of eighteen years.
