Gilbert Olanya, the Kilak South MP, says the violence escalated after the demarcation exercise. He says although the disputed areas could fall in any of the districts, he says this shouldnt make people leave in disharmony since any Ugandan is entitled to live anywhere.
Jokene says that a group of people armed with logs attacked his workers accusing them of trespass before slashing down the crops. The crops affected include 100 acres of maize, 105 acres of beans, 50 acres of sun flower and 5 acres of cassava. He estimates his losses to be more than 72 million Shillings.
