Long queues have formed in different parts of Kyotera as the district votes a woman Member of Parliament and district chairperson. By 7:50am, at least 50 voters had cast their ballots at each of the polling stations with close to 300 voters. Mujuzi Emmanuel, one of the voters says he wanted to vote early and go and do his other work.
Francis Tumukunde, an official of the NRM Electoral Commission declared Kintu Kisekulo as the official candidate to contest for Kyotera LCV seat. He will now faceoff with Democratic Party candidate Tom Darlington Balloja and FDCs Godfrey Kahweru in the general election scheduled for next month.
Their petition is based on a ruling by High Court Judge Lawrence Gidudu in which Baguma was declared incompetent for messing up elections in Rakai district where he served as Returning Officer in the 2016 elections. Elections from four of the five constituencies in the district were nullified.
