The Uganda Police has pledged 100 million shillings as a reward to anyone who can identify the people behind the kidnap and eventual killing of Susan Magara, an accountant whose body was found dumped in Kigo, Wakiso this morning.
As the world enters New Year 2018 the police in Entebbe have tightened security measures to ensure peaceful celebrations. In December 2015, end of year beach parties at different beaches in Entebbe were low key after after 13 people drowned during the Christmas festivities.
The Uganda Police Force appears to have made a breakthrough in identifying the people behind the killing of young women in Entebbe and Nansana areas. Forensic evidence has pinned Ibrahim Kaweesa and William Ssenoga, two of the 13 suspects arrested two months ago.
Dr Annette Kezaabu Kasimbazi argues that pornography addicts are sadists and sadism drives them into acts such as rape and murder as witnessed in Entebbe. Although there is not yet a clear link between the murders and pornography, she said the committee is trying to connect the dots.
The list of 21 victims is part of the statement made by the minister in regard to the wave of killings whose motive he attributed to ritual purposes, domestic disputes as well as land conflicts. The killings happened from 3rd May to 4th September 2017 in Wakiso district. The murders have a striking resemblance with women bodies reported to have had signs of manual strangulation while others having sticks inserted in the private parts.
In a preliminary statement presented to parliament chaired by Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, the Internal Affairs Minister Jeje Odongo said that police investigations currently point at ritual purposes, domestic disputes and land conflcts as the motives behind the wave of killings.
Ivan Katongole, a resident of Nkumba, Katabi town council, was arrested on Wednesday evening by operatives of the Flying Squad Unit following intelligence information that linked him to four of the murdered women.
With 11 frequent murders in a space of over a month jitters have run the spine of residents of peaceful, tranquil and cool Katabi Town Council. It formerly was a Sub-county under Wakiso District, but due to its rapid development in recent years, thanks to its strategic location between Kampala and Entebbe, it was elevated to a town council.
Another woman has been killed in Entebbe Municipality, bringing to twelve the number of victims of the suspected serial murders. This morning, a body of yet to be identified woman was recovered in Kitala, Katabi town council.
