Speaking during the launch of the NRM party manifesto at Jinja city conference hall on Saturday, the NRM candidates said they are financially constrained because of the just concluded primary elections. They argued that it is hard for them to battle their rivals from other political parties, most of whom are using money to win over voters.
According to Dr Tusasirwe, the courts were initially not designed as rights enforcement mechanisms but as instruments of law and order and regulation of transactions such as business, land and marriage among others. He argues that in their current state, courts look at enforcement of rights as a secondary role.
The FDC National Chairperson, Wasswa Biriggwa clarified their position on the people power campaign, saying it is a child of defiance. He called onto opposition parties to harmonize their forces in the struggle to liberate Uganda.
The phrase has now been adopted by Kyaddondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi, now seen as the founder of a formidable force dubbed People Power in Uganda. He has taken it a notch further to conjoin a slogan People Power, Our Power which has since become popular among ordinary people.
Farida Kibowa from Kayunga was elected chairperson, Linda Auma from Lira Vice chairperson, Masturah Namatovu from Kamuli Publicity Secretary and while Norah Akwi from Nakapiripiriti was elected finance secretary.
Kathika alleges that his constituency has been sidelined for a very longtime when it comes to service delivery and the Chairperson is hell bent on frustrating the little that would come with the creation of the new sub counties. He also claimed that people from his area were sidelined in the recent recruitment by by Kasese District Local Government.
In his December 8th letter to the Lira district NRM Party chairperson, Administrative Secretary and Resident District Commissioner, says that he made several follow-ups with Dr. Hassan Galiwango, the Finance and Administrator at the NRM headquarters and his Accountant, Aaron Kasamba but only got empty promises.
