Deo Obura, the Albertine regional Police Commander-RPC told Uganda Radio Network on Monday that the suspects whose particulars have been withheld by police for fear of jeopardizing police investigations were arrested in a joint operation mounted by the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces-UPDF and the police over the weekend.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson told Uganda Radio Network that the two armed men disguised as clients who need to withdraw money from a mobile money operator and Centenary Bank agent identified as Apollo Muhumuza, 26. He was held at gunpoint and ordered to surrender all the money he had in his possession.
Robert Nyakaana a mobile money agent says three men armed with a gun raided his premises and immediately started beating him demanding for money. They shot him in the leg before they made off with 300,000 Shillings and phones worth 3.5 Million Shillings.
Speaking to Uganda Radio network in a telephone interview this morning, Kasirivu said he survived by God's Grace, saying the attack could be political motivated. He told URN that he has already filed a case at Kakumiro police station.
It is alleged that three thugs, armed with a gun on Tuesday night raided a mobile money shop belonging to Wilson Agaba in Kivengenyi village and put him at gunpoint before ordering him to surrender all the money he had.
