Harriet Mudondo, the Deputy Director Child Welfare in Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA, says the number of children on the streets cannot decrease because many of them flock to the city to make money.
The district has been infested by Tsetse flies, the vectors that cause Nagana disease in livestock, the main stay of the Dodoth people of Napak, a part of the Karimojong stock. Tsetse flies also cause sleeping sickness in humans.
Lometo says Karamoja is now 99 percent peaceful thanks to the disarmament programme. The region used to be infested with small arms which aided intra-communal, inter-communal and cross-border cattle raids and killings, making the place insecure and lag in development.
