His plea follows a decision by the council of chiefs at Acholi Chiefdom and the family of the fallen musician including sisters, brothers and uncles to reject his wish for cremation. Oryema, a native of Acholi was based in France most of his life, having gone there in 1977, escaping excesses in the Idi Amin government.
Jude Ogik, the family attorney says cremation was the last wish of the Worlds celebrated legend granted to him on Saturday. He, however, adds that preparations are underway to bring back the ashes to his ancestral home in Pabit Parish, Purongo Sub County, Nwoya district.
