The Minister of State for Lands, Persis Namuganza has attributed the mess in the Land compensation to the dealings of the current chairperson of the commission Beatrice Byankya and former lands Minister Betty Amongi; compensation was deferred when the chairperson imputed massive criminality by claiming that the ministry was paying already paid persons, and also that the acreage was inflated.
Musoke put up a spirited defense while appearing before the commission, saying that he is just a victim of intrigue among local politicians. Flanked by his lawyer Herbert Mugerwa, Musoke explained that unscrupulous district officials took advantage of his interdiction by the Inspector General of Government IGG to partake in the land bonanza.
George Musiitwa is backing a questionable report of Wilson Ogalo, a Commissioner Surveys and Mapping in Entebbe, while the Land Commission agrees with a 2014 report authored by the Deputy Commissioner Surveys and Mapping Dr Yafesi Okia, which tallies with all original maps of the land area.
The Land Commission has this afternoon learnt that a total of 15,000 residents of seven villages in Njeru Town Council, Buikwe district face eviction after three men claimed ownership of a square mile of land on which they are settled.
In his testimony to the Commission, Otema said that he made a genuine purchase of the land in the area and that he is being maliciously framed. He said that in 2015, he acquired titled land measuring 300 hectares from Samuel Odokonyero at 150 million Shillings in Got-Afoyo, Pajengo and Obira villages.
Maj. Gen. Charles Otema, the Reserve Force Commander has been accused of violent land evictions in Nwoya with a witness telling the Land Commission that the army officer boasted of having government blessing to act as he pleased.
The three relatives reportedly forged a letter of no objection which was used to dupe court into granting letters of administration for the estate of Zakaliya Ssaku Kikonyogo, registered as Block 60, Plot 1, Kitule village in Mubende district.

Evidence against him indicates that in November 2007, Tumwine wrote to the Executive Director of National Forestry Authority directing him to release a temporally land lease to gazette plots of land in the forest reserve. Buganda Land Board BLB is running the Land Title in your Hands, a campaign aimed at granting mainly 49-year leases for tenants on Buganda Kingdom land. The campaign targets those occupying the land without official documentation. The Central government seems to be uncomfortable with the new arrangement which some have said may fuel mass land evictions on land owned by the Kabaka of Buganda or the kingdom.
The Police Lands Protection Unit has rushed to Lyantonde district to investigate and find a possible solution to the conflict over a 25-hectare-piece of land. The land in question is a farm located in Kyabadaaza village on plot 24, block 106, about 4kms along Lyantonde-Kiruhura road.
