The laboratory located in Boma, Fort Portal Municipality will be used for testing road materials that include soils, gravel, bitumen, and rocks. It is being constructed under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development USMID at a tune of 86 million shillings.
Last month, Francis Banyange a parent petitioned the office of the Kabarole Resident District Commissioner RDC, Stephen Asiimwe; the Mayor Fort Portal municipality, Rev Willy Kintu Muhanga; among others, arguing that there is extortion and misuse of funds at the government-owned school.
Festus Bandeba, the deputy Resident District Commissioner Kabarole, says that the journalists were blocked because they have been misreporting about General Salehs activities in the Rwenzori region.
Muhanga says the they are rushing to compete the building because Gen Salim Saleh, the Chief Coordinator Operation Wealth Creation OWC promised to rent their old offices. During the last council sitting about two weeks ago, Gen Saleh asked Councilors to rent him their Booma offices for the establishment of the regional OWC program offices.
On Monday, residents demonstrated and planted bananas in the road and also blocked it with tree logs to show their discontent. They argue that the municipal council worsened the state of the road when they poured loam soil.
On Tuesday, Saleh agreed to fund the five projects. He later signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mayor Rev Willy Muhanga.Muhanga said that the projects will be implemented in a phased manner kick and hopes they will create employment for more than 30,000 people.
According to Singura, the municipal council invited the Office of the Solicitor General to explain to them salient legal issues, how they are supposed to be addressed and advise them on what to do for the technocrats who are becoming insubordinate to council.
The centre will offer free HIV testing and Anti-retroviral therapy treatment, counselling, peer education, safe male circumcision; psychosocial support services; information on HIV, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Tuberculosis.
Last week, Fort Portal Municipal councilors resolved to petition Butime accusing the Mayor Rev Willy Kintu Muhanga of incompetence, lack of leadership skills, arrogance, and failure to present the State of the Municipality address before the council.
