The tournament, which had been since suspended for the past 18 months following the covid19 pandemic outbreak in 2020 resumed on Saturday and attracted 21 rugby football clubs from majorly Mbale, Jinja and Soroti.
Ngonde who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, says that they will strive to ensure that their new club maintains its glory in the league. “Our target is to ensure that the club outshines her critiques throughout the remaining matches,” he said.
The selected team was chosen after posting impressive results in the Source of the Nile Half Marathon Competitions held in Jinja this morning. The run attracted 138 athletes from 22 athletics clubs all over the country.
“We invited 30 players from different schools and selected football clubs all over the country, with most of them lacking match experience but after this one- week training am sure they can hustle all the tasks ahead of them,” she said.
Speaking at the celebrations of the World Heart Day in Jinja district on Friday, Kadaga says that, some schools have limited space where pupils can hardly carry out physical exercises which has left them lazy and prone to heart diseases.
The clinics are aimed at sensitizing secondary school students on opportunities available in the sport. The Embassy has contributed uniforms, baseball bats, balls and moemy to facilitate both local and foreign coaches to operate these clinics in the districts of Arua, Jinja and Luwero.
