The Leader of Opposition, Betty Aol Ochan threatened to mobilize the masses from the constituencies of the jailed MPs to demonstrate, should Government fail to provide a satisfactory account on the fate of the MPs immediately and release them unconditionally.
As a result, police swung into action and started firing teargas to disperse the protesters and open the road leading to running battles. Some of the protesters fled to Kifumbira slums where they regrouped and returned to the road. Other people ran to safety in Kamwokya Mosque.
