Details of the case are that between February 4th and 11th, 2018 in Kampala, the suspects wrongly arrested and defrauding Park Seunghoon and Jang Shingu, both South Korean nationals and defrauded them of Shillings 1.4billion. The South Koreans had traveled to Uganda looking for gold.
Last week, the Anti-Corruption Court Grade one Magistrate Moses Nabende issued a warrant of arrest to Bakaleke for failing to respect two criminal summons that were directing him to appear in court over fraud, abuse of office and kidnap charges.
Bakaleke through his lawyer Sarah Nakachwa on October 2nd 2018 filed an application where he wanted court to proceed in the absence of the Attorney General the respondent because he had not filed submissions to show that he was interested in the main case which also seeks to block the fraud trial.
The group is implicated in the alleged extortion of 1.4 billion Shillings from two South Korean Nationals Park Seunghoon and Jang Shingu Un who came to Uganda looking for gold amounting to USD 1.5 million, early this year. But the South Koreans were arrested from Acacia Mall in Kampala; where they were due to meet their lawyer Paul Wanyoto.
