Dr. Gerald Eilu, a Forest Biology and Ecosystems Management lecturer at Makerere University says that it is wrong for the university management to cut the trees especially during the breeding season for the birds.
Dr. Kamunyu vowed in an interview with URN never to cede to dishonesty as he returns to Makerere University, saying that academic freedoms and freedoms of expression that he was fighting for remain cardinal to him.
They argue that that the affirmative action policy which awarded 1.5 bonus points to girls qualifying to enter public universities, remains insufficient to address equity issues, especially in science-related courses. As a result, they say, the current government merit scholarship for students in higher education is heavily bent in favour of male students.
According to Patrick Bamukunda Batukura, the Assistant Chief Commissioner in charge of Training at the Uganda Scouts Association –USA, the winning teams will be taken through training to ensure they win at regional level as well.
