Using Botometer, a social media observatory tool created at Indiana University which can detect suspected bot accounts, URN reporters found out that five of the top ten accounts tweeting about NRM manifesto messages and events are suspected bot accounts. Botometer places the likelihood of the accounts in question to be bots above 72 percent.
William Tayebwa, the head of the Makerere University Department of Journalism and Communication says that any public servant at that level of leadership ceases to own what ordinary people call private accounts and adds that unless the account is encrypted and the information is not available to the general public then it can be considered private.
Bernard Taremwa, the WUSA President said that they agreed as members of the association in a meeting last week on how best to help their suspended colleagues. According to Taremwa, they agreed that each member of the association, which is comprised of 83 members should contribute whatever they can and managed to raise Shillings 8million.
