Ruyonga, who had held the same office for 15 years, had lost to Rev Willy Kintu Muhanga, an Independent candidate in the 2016 general elections. His loss then, despite being the NRM flag bearer, was attributed to the several controversies that surrounded his leadership and the clashes with councillors which forced him to snub council sessions for close to two years.
On Tuesday, Kabarole district leaders including the LCV Chairperson Richard Rwabuhinga, Woman Member of Parliament Sylvia Rwabwogo and Fort Portal Municipality MP Alex Ruhunda met with the State Minister for Sports, Hamson Denis Obua and allocated 18.2 acres of land for a regional stadium.
According to the petition, the residents said that in 2012 President Yoweri Museveni pledged to upgrade St Joseph’s Karangura Secondary School to a seed school since it was community-owned and in a poor state.
