Dr Pamela Atim Okot, the Executive Director of St Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum says there is a need to consider the risks health workers are enduring at the moment and determine an appropriate allowance. She notes that allocating 20,000 Shillings for a health worker in high-risk situations may not be right citing that they may deserve probably 80,000 Shillings.
During PAC’s meeting with Finance officials led by Under Secretary Betty Kasimbazi, it was discovered that government has breached the contract by failing to provide a balance of 10,000 hectares of land as agreed with no documentation to show that the ministry has made any follow-up on the matter.
Ocailap told MPs that the Minister of Finance, Matia Kasaija had already asked the Auditor General, John Muwanga to conduct a special audit into the payment made to the ten companies.
