The candidates on Wednesday suspended their campaigns after the arrest of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi wine, the National Unity Platform-NUP Presidential candidate.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson told Uganda Radio Network that security has received intelligence reports indicating that People Power activists are planning to stir chaos in the town center as President Museveni addresses the rally at Hoima Boma grounds on Tuesday afternoon.
Hundreds of people welcomed the duo in a procession at Butema trading center about 5km from Hoima town on Monday afternoon. The procession paralysed traffic for close to an Hour on Coronation road when a team of security officers comprising of UPDF soldiers and Anti-riot police blocked Bobi’s convoy from entering the town center.
The charges date back to July, 2018. Prosecution alleges that in July, 2018, Kyagulanyi, his co accused and others at large while at City Square in Kampala, disobeyed sections 5 and 10 of the Public Order Management Act.
