Kembabazi is accused of using her position to intimidate and lie to the Human Resource Officers at the Electoral Commission that President Museveni had assigned her to give jobs to three of her relatives to be deployed as Assistant District Registrars. The three are Kenneth Magezi, Duncan Muramuzi and Elia Abomeire.
Court also heard that while using video conferencing, the accused cannot whisper to their lawyers some secrets and that at times, the prison officers mute the microphones if an accused inmate starts talking about issues inside the prisons that are not good
The trial magistrate, Stella Maris Amabalis couldn’t access the video conferencing room, which connects Buganda road court to Kitalya, Luzira and Kigo prisons where the accused persons are on remand because it was being used by other magistrates. The suspects can’t be allowed to appear in court physically because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kadaga said that the Office of the Clerk to Parliament together with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Ministry of Information, Communications Technology and National Guidance have arranged initial video conferencing services.
