To date, Ozuma is yet to clear the court costs. He told URN in an interview that he has been paying the debt in instalments and is currently remaining with a balance of Shillings 7million.
According to the official poll results, Ozuma, who ran on the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC ticket, polled 7916 votes defeating the incumbent Deo Mbabazi Tumwesigye, who ran as an independent and garnered 7393 votes.
Lugazi is one of the eight municipalities which were selected to benefit from the additional funding for the implementation of the second phase of the World Bank-supported project. The others are Kitgum, Kamuli, Mubende, Kasese, Busia, Ntungamo and Apac.
The municipality has for the last three years been dumping waste at Kakubansiri in Kawolo Division until July when Shakur Sayid Mubarak a resident at Lugazi claimed ownership the same land.
Lugazi Municipal Mayor Deo Tumwesige Mbabazi says the heavy trucks, some of which are used to transport loads of sugarcane, have damaged the road, the drainage system and made the town filthy.
