Over 3,000 acres of cumulated farmland in Lii, Kochgoma, Got-Apwoyo, Lungulu, Anaka and Purongo Sub-Counties were destroyed and at least 20 people were killed by marauding elephants that invade human settlements from Murchison Falls National Park in the past six months.
The Minister was in the district to interact with the communities of Got-Apwoyo, Purongo, and Lii Sub-Counties whose livelihoods have been affected by the marauding elephants from the Murchison Falls National Park.

Felix Onencan, a farmer in Agung village says he has suffered unimaginable loss after the elephants destroyed his crops and shuttered his investment. He told URN that he procured a bank loan and hired 300 acres of land on which he planted soybean which has all been ruined.
