At the Island, there is only one resident who owns a television set, which is placed in one small room. He added that although the resident wanted to help, the space at his home is not enough to host the learners, without breaking the guidelines on social distancing in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Susan Nankanja, a Village Health Team-VHT member, says many residents wake up from their beds in the morning with itchy faces, which sometimes develop into blisters. She is distressed that many of them are suffering with pain due to failure to access treatment.
The fishermen and other boat operators pay 250,000 shillings license fee to the Ministry of Works every year. However in the revised rates, boats are required to pay Shillings 50, 000 and passenger boats between 20, 000 to 60,000 according to its size every month and 240, 000 shillings to the district per year.
