Dr Epodoi, the Consultant Surgeon led a team that conducted a highly risky operation, to separate a conjoined twin from a dead sibling in March 2021. The operation took place six days after the birth of the conjoined twins, and, according to the medics, the deceased twin had already started decomposing.
General Elly Tumwiine, the National Honours and Awards Committee chairperson, said the awards are meant to recognise and reward outstanding acts and achievements of individuals who distinguished themselves in service to the nation.
