More than 120,000 people mainly from Karusandara sub-county and Bulembia-Kilembe Division were displaced and their crop gardens washed away when River Nyamwamba burst its banks on Thursday Morning. Additional havoc was caused by overflows from River Nyamughasana, Mubuku, and Lhubiriha.
The iron sheets were distributed to the sub-counties of Bombo, Kijongo, Kapapi, Kiganja, Kisukuma and Kyabisagazi in Kigorobya county as well as Buraru and Kabale sub-counties in Bugahya county. Each sub county received 50 iron sheets.
Bahati Ondoma, one of the affected persons, says they are in untold suffering ever since they were forcefully evicted from their ancestral land. He explains that most of them mainly children and women have nothing to eat and that some of their colleagues have started dying of hunger.
