Authorities in Namayingo district have impounded two tonnes of immature fish worth shillings 40 million. Mohamed Lubega Madarasa, head of operations in the fisheries ministry said 120 illegal nets and 200 boats worth shillings 245 million have been impounded from fishermen and later destroyed in the two districts of Mayuge and Namayingo since the start of the year.
A truck full of immature fish has been impounded by fisheries authorities in Jinja. The Jinja district assistant fisheries officer, Michael Walugada, says the truck registration number UAK 976K, was impounded at Masese Landing Site as the immature fish was being loaded onto it in the night.
