On Tuesday, Kabarole district leaders including the LCV Chairperson Richard Rwabuhinga, Woman Member of Parliament Sylvia Rwabwogo and Fort Portal Municipality MP Alex Ruhunda met with the State Minister for Sports, Hamson Denis Obua and allocated 18.2 acres of land for a regional stadium.
The elders say that much as the leasing of the land is likely to foster development, there is a segment of the population that has raised a red flag on the basis of a possible conflict of interest by the district chairman or the area councilors.
Speaking at the university’s 12th graduation ceremony on Friday, the State Minister for Higher Education, Muyingo noted that the task force concluded its work paving way for government take over next year.
Prof Edward Rugumayo, the Chancellor Mountains of the Moon University, noted that Umeme is always slow to respond to complaints like transformer thefts and outages, which affects the consumers. He asked Umeme to respond swiftly to complaints for better service delivery.
This came to the limelight when up to 12-students who were enrolled for the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery Course in the academic year 2016/2017 failed to access internship placements after completing their final exams at the university. They were reportedly told by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council –UNMC that the course is not accredited.
