“The Commission provided reintegration assistance to 338 reporters who were waiting for reinsertion support in communities. Six of them from DRC, 40 from Kiryandongo, 112 from Gulu, 29 from Kasese, 126 from Kitgum and 25 from the Central region” the report states in part.
The Centre was founded in 1987 by Bernardetta Akwero a native of the same place at the peak of the Lord`s Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency in Northern Uganda. It was also safe havens for night commuters during the LRA insurgency.
The group under their umbrella, Lango Former LRA Captives and Returnees Association notes that most of them are in dire need for help, yet government has done little to facilitate their reintegration into the community.
