The blaze, which erupted in the children's bedroom around 7:00 am, quickly engulfed the entire house. Despite desperate efforts by residents and neighbors to contain the fire, they were overwhelmed by its intensity.
Moses Sserunjogi, the LCIII Chairperson for Kasensero town council says despite having in place community rescue teams trained by police to offer emergency rescue services during water accidents, the teams are ill-equipped. He says that the absence of proper emergency rescue facility in the area is apparently making it difficult for them to save lives of people that regularly drown between the two Islands.
