The 200 farmers are part of the more than 20,000 people who encroached on part of the Bugoma forest land that Hoima Sugar Limited leased from Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom for 99 years to carry out sugarcane growing.
He asked the government to expedite the process of opening the boundaries of the forest reserve to allow justice to prevail so that National Forestry Authority-NFA, the kingdom as well the community near the forest reserve can know their boundaries.
The restoration exercise dubbed "Environment, energy, forestry protection and conservation" is aimed at restoring 100 of the 150 hectares of the degraded forest land due to illegal activities by refugees from Kyangwali refugee settlement.
