The virtual summit follows two others before the outbreak of the Coronavirus that took place in Luanda in order to bridge the differences between Uganda and Rwanda. The two brotherly countries have had frosty relations in the recent years stemming from the accusations from both sides of supporting negative forces in each other’s country.
Domingos spoke to the Uganda and Rwanda delegations on Friday at Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo today to kick off another round of the talks between delegations of Uganda and Rwanda.
Ofwono Opondo, the Uganda government spokesperson, said on Thursday evening that “the meeting at Munyonyo is follow up to one held in Kigali in September to concretize the issues in the memorandum of understating signed in Luanda Angola in August 2019.”
The meeting, which would have been a follow-up to the Kigali meeting of September 16, was supposed to take place after 30 days – on October 16, 2019, but the date passed quietly. Now that the November date has been canceled, it leaves everything uncertain as to when both countries would meet.
