Several Archbishops, Bishops, priests, nuns, special guests, and hundreds of Christians witnessed his installation this morning in the fully packed Lubaga Cathedral. Ssemogerere crossed from Kasana-Luwero Diocese to Kampala Archdiocese today morning before he was installed.
Ssemogerere explained that he has ceased being the Diocesan Bishop and now serving as Diocesan Administrator till Pope appoints Apostolic Administrator or Bishop of the Diocese.
Facing strong resistance, the Archbishop could not even place the foundation stone close to the church. Muwonge says the stone was instead placed some meters away near the martyrs’ lake and was recently relocated to another place during the recent renovation of the place.
Nsubuga, notes if the appointment is to take this direction, the Papal Nuncio, the Pope’s representative, opens consultation consults with various people for the names of qualified individuals. “they would be wide consultations in that matter,” Nsubuga added. “The process involves high-level confidentiality to avoid lobbying, undue pressure on those involved or those being considered, and unnecessary jealousies,” he adds.
To address the problem, the Catholic Church is opting to allocate an exclusive day to young pilgrims. The development will be pioneered Masaka Diocese, which is organising this year’s event.
The Director of the Social Communications Department of Kampala Archdiocese, Fr Joseph Mukasa Nkeera, has since confirmed the development revealing that the directives were issued during a high-level meeting with the clergy and senior executive committees of parishes at Rubaga Cathedral in Kampala this Saturday.
