Last week while addressing mourners at the burial of David Anyoti Obyara, the former Minister of Information in the Obote II government, said that the NRM party has not had adequate time to concentrate on development because of continuous insurgencies from 1986.
The fallen minister, like Peter Iloot Otai, another Milton Obote State Minister for Defense who breathed his last in London, United Kingdom on January 2nd, 2020 have traces of rebel rebellion against the National Resistance Army- NRA in 1980s. When defeated, went to exile with several others, some of whom have remained in different countries up to date.
They include Hellen Adoa, the Serere Woman MP and State Minister for Fisheries, Usuk County MP Peter Ogwang, who has opted to represent the newly created Ngariam County and the Bukedea Woman MP, Anita Among. The other is Emilly Sheila Amulo, the aspirant for the Soroti Woman MP seat.
Early this week the UPC party faction under the leadership of Walubiri launched a Nationwide Census of all UPC party members saying the tension in the party is hindering its progress and they are looking forward to engaging in party activities in fulfillment of the aspiration of the wider population of Uganda.
