The arrested are suspected to have been working with Amos Mugume – one of the most wanted suspected kidnappers and hardcore criminals in Fort Portal city and surrounding areas who was shot dead on Friday.
Uganda is maintaining a nighttime curfew which starts from 9 pm to 5: 30 a.m, as one of the measures to control the movement of people and human to human interactions, known to be a super spreader of the COVID-19 virus.
The Rwenzori West Region Police Spokesperson, Vincent Twesige, says the duo was picked up on a tip off from community members who saw them selling the purported Covid19 herbal cure.
Bunyangabu Resident District Commissioner Jane Asiimwe, who was part of the operation says that the district Covid-19 Rapid Response Team was struggling to do its job due to lack of vehicles. She explains that the district has only two vehicles that were used by a team of over ten members to traverse the whole district in response to alerts in relation to COVID-19.
