Stanley Muhindo, who lost two children, says that the heavy rains began around 9:00 PM on Saturday and went on until 11:00 AM on Sunday.

The most affected areas include Kasenyi village in Buhuhira sub-county where three people were killed in floods that occurred after Kuruhe River burst its banks.

Maliba sub-county is one of those that has remarkably been affected with more than 200 residents displaced by mudslides while most access routes have been cut-off.

But even mobile assets were not spared, among these five boda boda motorcycles whose owners had taken shelter only for the fast-flowing mud to sweep their bikes away.

The mudslides occurred in Kitholu Sub County on Thursday following heavy rains that led to the bursting of River Tunga on the mountainous parts of Rwenzori on Thursday.

Erinora Tswende one of the survivours from Kigharama village said government has not given them any relief since the disaster hit.

Justus Asaba the sub county LC 3 chairperson says more than 10 homes have been affected and several gardens have since been destroyed.
