According to results declared by Dr Tanga Odoi, the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Muhumuza has garnered 23,824 votes against the incumbent Lawrence Akugizibwe who got 22,983 votes. The third candidate in the race Leo Musinguzi has polled 1,079 votes.
According to Dr Tanga Odoi the NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, some of these candidates are in NRM strongholds which means that chances are very high that they will go through unopposed during the national elections.
The NRM tomorrow is holding nationwide party primaries to choose candidates for district and other Parliamentary seats. Those competing in Mawogola West are the incumbent Joseph Ssekabiito Kitayimbwa and the Sembaule district MP Hanifa Bangirana Kawooya.
