The primaries turned chaotic over the involvement of underage youths, multiple voting and bribing youths with alcohol. The irregularities were witnessed at Wabinyonyi, Buruuli Quarter, Wakibombo, Kansiri and Nakasongola Central village in Nakasongola town.

Nakaseke District Chairman Ignatius Koomu Kiwanuka defeated his rival Wasswa Tadeo Ziritwawula, the current Chairperson of Ngoma Town Council to retain the party flag in polls held on Friday. He polled 32,718 votes against Wasswa's 18,841 votes across 10 sub-counties and five town councils, according to the results released by the Nakaseke NRM Registrar Paul Tandeka.
An agent who couldn’t be identified by the time of filling this report lost his cool after his candidate Fred Kazibwe was declared as having lost the Flag for Lubaga South III representing Ndeeba and Lubaga parishes.
According to provisional results for LC 5 Chairperson NRM Flagbearer for Luweero district obtained by URN from 370 out of 606 polling stations in the district, Uthman Kamoga Jjuuko has so far polled 15,268 votes followed by Abbey Ssozi Bakisula with 1545 votes and the current District speaker Dithan Kikabi with 1312 and Rashidah Birungi with 91 votes.
The aspirants include Faridah Nakalawa, Zena Ali Merrycillah and Joy Namulindwa who were defeated by Cissy Mulondo for the Luweero Woman Parliamentary flag, Ali Ndawula who was defeated by John Chrysostom Muyingo for Bamunanika County ticket and Stephen Tiberondwa Bujingo who lost the Nakasongola County ticket to Noah Mutebi Wanzala.
In Karamoja, the NRM primary elections are an equivalent of a national or a final election because of the grass-roots strength The party enjoys in the region. For instance, during the presidential elections of 2016, President Museveni won with 98 per cent while all the current MPs in national Parliament subscribe to the NRM.
With 3,381 votes, Ssembatya came third in a race won by his political arch-rival Patricia Magara who garnered 8,340 votes, followed by Abubaker Kalume, the other contender who polled 7,150 votes. Ssembatya has represented Katikamu South for one term.
David Kamugisha, the Luweero NRM registrar declared Nasur winner of the Katikamu North NRM party flag for the 2021 polls. Byandala has represented Katikamu North constituency on the NRM ticket for past three 5 year elective terms.
The mix up was allegedly brought about by the last-minute guidance issued following by the NRM Party Chairman Yoweri Museveni allowing persons whose names did not appear on the voters register to participate in the elections.
The Aspirants formed the groups to allegedly protect their votes and mobilize for support ahead of elections for NRM party candidates on September 4. But the police in Luweero says it has received complaints that the groups are already engaging in criminal activities like defacing posters of persons from rival camps.
As the dates draw closer, the aspirants are also intensifying campaigns, combing villages in the search for supporters and campaign agents. But this has become an uphill task as the constituents shun them, pointing the pledges made to the communities in the aftermath of the 1981-1986 guerrilla war.
