The damage is visible on Moroto- Kotido road, Moroto- Soroti road, Namalu-Muyembe road that connects to Mbale and some parts of Abim- Amuria, connecting to Soroti, where passengers have spent nights after their vehicles got stuck. There are also reports of vehicles that were swept away by running water.
The road conditions have continued to deteriorate with several gaping potholes, deep edge breaks and eroded shoulders affecting traffic flow. This has resulted into high vehicle operating costs, increased travel time and passenger tales filled with agony.
The Moroto â€“ Nakapiripirit road has finally re-opened, three months after it was cut off following the torrential rains that washed away Lorengedwat Bridge in Nakapiripirit district. Lorengedwat is the main bridge that connects the two districts.
