On Tuesday, Obete declared Lumumba elected with 2,636 votes while Ogwette came second with 2,594 votes. This prompted dozens of Ogwette’s supporters and DP leaders led by the Gulu Municipality Member of parliament, Lyandro Komakech to lead a procession in the streets of Gulu City.
During his last campaign rally that lasted for less than one hour, Mao promised to cause change, improve security, promoted agriculture and restore presidential term limit once elected among others.
Richard Jomeo, a political activist in Acholi described Mao as a capable and quality leader deemed right to address the cries of Acholi and leading Uganda once elected in office.
Speaking at the launch, Mugabe said the alliance seeks to strengthen grassroots mobilization, building strong manifestos for the candidates as well as identifying potential leaders who will work for the development of their electorate.
