Sekibaala aged 62 years by then strangled the wife and later set the body on fire inside the house. He later ran to his brother where he reported the death of his wife and blamed it on a bomb explosion in their house before he fled to evade arrest.
On September 3rd, 2024 Nakaseke District dismissed 20 headteachers from public service and directed them to forfeit all their service benefits. They were also told they were not eligible for employment in public service sine die.
They also asked for the court to declare that the decision of Koomu to conduct the tests on the applicants and other teachers was null and void, invalid and illegal since it was not within his mandate.
On December 6th, 2023 four Christians of Luwero Diocese dragged 37 Anglican Bishops that constitute the House of Bishops to Luwero High Court challenging their decision to nullify the election of Rev. Kasana as Bishop. The Christians include John Saigt Ssendowooza and Moses Bemba from Ndejje Archdeaconry. Others are Christopher Ssajjabi Katende and Moses Kakembo of Namumira Church of Uganda.
This directive is outlined in a December 21, 2023 letter, from the Provincial Secretary, Rev. Canon William Ongeng, addressed to Rt. Rev. James William Ssebaggala, the Caretaker Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Luwero.
The development prompted the Church to engage the services of Agaba Muhairwe and Company Advocates to represent the Church during the court battle.
It’s noted that the Court determined the case in the Church’s favor.
A section of Christians has expressed dissatisfaction about the developments and has now taken the matter to the divine court asking God to prevail over the decision and allow the Archbishop to consecrate Kasana Ssemakula as Bishop. The prayers were launched at the home of Sam Sserunjogi, a congregant at St. Paul’s Church Kigulu in Wobulenzi town.
During the media engagement at Luwero High Court, Gloria Akong Ogwal, a legal officer attached to the JSC, urged journalists to conduct thorough research when working on stories related to the law. She stressed the importance of reporters having a solid understanding of the law to effectively inform the public about their constitutional rights.
Rev. Kalule 67 on Thursday appeared before Luwero High Court Judge Henrietta Wolayo on allegations of defiling and impregnating a 16-year-old girl who was under his custody from 2007 to 2018.
The Principal Judge Flavian Zeija says that although plans for establishing the court began last year, the judiciary failed to secure premises suitable for the High Court.
Jameson Karemani the Public Relations Officer of Judiciary says that the delay is due to the ongoing COVID 19 lockdown. He however noted that immediately after the lockdown is relaxed, the Judiciary will deploy a judge and start operations as other requirements are put in place.
