Police and the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces -UPDF are conducting voluntary and forceful disarmament in the sub-region located in the neighbourhood of the armed communities of Turkana in Kenta and Toposa in South Sudan's Toposa.

Capt. Albert Arinaitwe, the 3rd Division Spokesman says over 70% of gun recoveries and cattle thefts are recorded from Kotido district. He notes that while other districts within Karamoja have tried to engage locals against the acts of theft and illegal possession of firearms, Kotido has remained adamant.

Anatoli Kiiza, a 29 year-old mechanic in Hoima district known for fabricating machines to make what he calls a missile, has been arrested.

Police in Tororo Municipality are holding a security guard suspected of shooting to death his colleague. Emmanuel Oketch (30) was deployed by JAG Security Company at Uganda College of Commerce Tororo - UCC located in North Budama Sub County in Tororo district.
