According to the election results, Uganda People’s Congress-UPC party won five seats in the entire Lango sub-region. The ruling National Resistance Movement won three seats, Forum for Democratic Change-FDC won one seat and only one Independent candidate sailed through the race successfully.
However, voters and several other candidates say that the two contenders have contributed to a spike in violence across the constituencies. The accusation follows an incident in which Tonny Ayo ordered his bodyguard to fire live bullets to disperse a crowd that attacked him while campaigning in Apwori Trading Centre in Atongtidi Sub County on Sunday.
During her campaign trail in Lango region, Kalembe made several pledges that include fighting corruption, stopping land grabbing, improving teacher’s welfare, better health for youths and women among others.
