Court Upholds Elections of Juliet Achayo Lodou in Ngora County Soroti High Court 2 1

The court found that there were four different results for the two candidates leading to the confusion. Achayo was first declared winner of the Ngora County elections with 9,517 votes. Abala who had garnered 9,226 votes was instead declared winner by the Electoral Commission in Kampala.

Court Asked to Dismiss Petition Against Kashongi County MP 1

Tayebwa through his lawyer Geoffrey Kandeebe, on Monday, told the court presided over by Justice Moses Kazibwe Kawumi that Tumuramye was illegally nominated by the Electoral Commission. According to Kandeebe, the document he attached on the petition as the nomination paper had only signatures from nine registered voters instead of ten.

Namayanja, who ran on the National Unity Platform-NUP party ticket, won the polls with 28,824 votes against the petitioner who emerged third with 2,421 votes. Dissatisfied with the poll results, Bamwesigye ran to Masaka High Court seeking among other things the nullification of the election on grounds that the Electoral Commission contravened the laws governing elections.
