The allocation, facilitated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC & DB), and Uganda Land Commission, aims to support the former legislators' livelihoods through commercial agriculture.
Tony Awany, the Nwoya County Member of Parliament says the conference is expected to generate ideas that will help in guiding the district councils in the region in regard to sustainable land management in Acholi Sub-region.
A team of surveyors from the Pader district, NAGRC, and the Pader district land committee embarked on the exercise to identify and take coordinates of the affected areas.
During the site handover at Kalili Village, Gadison said that the land is part of the Aswa Ranch, which was leased to the National Animal Genetic Resources Centre (NAGRC) by the Uganda Livestock Industry in 2016. Orik said that Uganda Prison Services will use the land to ensure food security in the country through farming cereals, which she says would commence shortly.
