During their meeting on Thursday, Committee Chairperson Joel Ssenyonyi tasked Katumba Wamala to explain why he could not advise President Yoweri Museveni when he directed him to appoint Bamuturaki, even when she lacked the requisite qualifications.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, said that
"Our fire prevention and rescue services officers responded on time, fortunately, the fire had been extinguished by other first responders using a nearby fire extinguisher, water, and sand." According to Owoyesigyire, all the passengers escaped unhurt.
Prior to his appointment as a full cabinet minister, Gen. Katumba served as State Minister for Transport for two years. Under his docket lay the roads sector that covers the railway, taxis, buses and Boda-boda, water transport as well as the aviation and other related services.
Oulanyah, who visited Katumba together with his Deputy Anita Among, says that the attackers approached the General’s vehicle from the back and front and were determined to eliminate him.
