The report based on 2,741 respondents reveals that among those who report attending village meetings, four out of ten (42 percent) say the topics discussed included security matters, followed by water (22 percent) and sanitation (22 percent).
According to the findings, 58% say government should planting trees or encourage people to do so at community level; 70% recommend tree planting government's action to fight climate change at national level; and 60% say individuals can plant trees or practice mixed farming to mitigate the effect of climate change.
57 percent of the respondents in Uganda were against the idea of letting the government restrict the free press, especially on issues it considers harmful.
The findings of the survey released by the Twaweza in the presence of the Health Ministry officials indicate that eight out of ten citizens (79 per cent) say teen pregnancy has become a bigger problem during the Coronavirus pandemic and half say physical (51 per cent), emotional (51 per cent) and sexual (46 per cent) violence has got worse.
