In mid April, Lake Kyoga Management Organisation-LAKIMO slapped a two month ban suspending fishing activities to allow the Fisheries Protection Unit (FPU) coordinate the registration of fishermen and their boats.
The money was meant to finance constructions of three community roads including a road stretching from Amolatar town to Amai Hospital about 11km, a road from Odyak Trading Centre to Kitaleba landing site in Muntu Sub County and a road stretching from Amolatar health centre to Abeja Landing site in Arwotcek Sub County.
Amolatar District Police Commander, Samuel Abedi has identified the deceased as Thomas Omara, 34, Innocent Obore 17 and Ceasar David Opito, 27, all residents of Kipangai A village, Kikondo parish, Namasale Sub County.
