The decision comes nearly three weeks after several attempts employed by the district to persuade the pastoralists to voluntarily vacate the land failed.
Nwoya is among the four districts in Acholi and Lango Sub-regions that was supposed to start evicting pastoralists who were illegally occupying government land following an order issued by Gen. David Muhoozi, the state Minister for Internal Affairs last week.
More than 51,000 acres of land in the villages of Kaladima, Pacilo Palokere, and parts of Pawel in the greater Atiak Sub-county are currently being occupied by pastoralists commonly referred to as Balaalo.
